Center for Laboratory Animal Resources
ůůֱ²¥ School of Medicine is dedicated to leading the creation and advancement of health equity. To that end, most of the research conducted focuses on diseases and other health concerns in high prevalence in underserved communities.
The Center for Laboratory Animal Resources (CLAR) manages the animal care and use for all research and teaching projects at ůůֱ²¥ School of Medicine and all Atlanta University Center (AUC) institutions. CLAR’s main goal is to provide the highest quality of care for all research animals, help to reduce variables in study data, and maintain compliance and adherence to the federal Animal Welfare Act, state regulations and the AAALAC Program Description. The program is responsible for the daily care of all animals, animal health surveillance and veterinary medical care, animal procurement, quarantine and stabilization of animals, technical assistance with animal studies, and consultation to the faculty, staff and students.
